In some rural areas, young girls are still forced into early marriages due to poverty and cultural pressures. At just 12 or 13, their childhood ends abruptly.
Faith Clinic Foundation is working to change that
By engaging parents, supporting families, and providing access to education, the foundation is helping communities see the long-term value of keeping girls in school. Each child educated is a step toward breaking generational cycles of poverty

Building a Future Where Every Child Has Access to Education

In Amadugba community, Imo State, a 10-year-old girl once spent her mornings hawking goods instead of sitting in a classroom. Education felt like a distant dream—one reserved for “other children.”
That changed when Faith Clinic Foundation arrived.
Through the foundation’s educational empowerment program, she received school materials, guidance, and encouragement. Today, she sits confidently in class, holding not just a pencil, but a renewed sense of purpose.
Join us in making this vision a reality.

  • Breaking the Cycle of Poverty

Education equips children with knowledge and skills that increase their chances of earning a stable income in the future. Without it, many remain trapped in generational poverty.

  • Empowering the Girl Child

In some rural areas, girls are more likely to be withdrawn from school for early marriage or domestic work. Education gives them a voice, independence, and the ability to make informed life choices

  • Improving Health and Well-being

Educated children grow into adults who understand hygiene, nutrition, and healthcare. This directly reduces disease and improves community health outcomes

  • Reducing Social Inequality

Education creates equal opportunities, helping children from disadvantaged backgrounds compete fairly in society

  • Building Stronger Communities

When children are educated, they return value to their communities—becoming teachers, health workers, entrepreneurs, and leaders

Why Children’s Education Matters in Rural Nigeria

Becheve: Where Girls Are Sold Into Marriage for Debt Settlement

In the quiet rural communities of Cross River State, Nigeria, a deeply rooted cultural practice known as Becheve continues to rob young girls of their childhood, dignity, and future.

Becheve is a system where families, burdened by poverty or debt, give out their daughters in marriage as a form of repayment. These girls are often very young—some still in their early teens—and are forced into unions they neither understand nor consent to

What is presented as a cultural tradition is, in reality, a cycle of exploitation

A future without Becheve is possible.
A future where girls are not seen as debt repayment—but as leaders, professionals, and change-makers.
A future where every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.

In many rural communities across Nigeria, access to quality education remains a daily challenge. For the pupils of Ofeme Community Primary School in Umuezeama, Ude-Alaike, Umuahia North, this reality is all too familiar. Yet, in the face of these challenges, hope is rising—and it is being driven by purposeful action
Behind every Becheve arrangement is a story of loss:
  • Lost Education: Girls are withdrawn from school, cutting off their chances of becoming educated and independent.
  • Lost Childhood: Instead of growing, learning, and dreaming, they are forced into adult roles—wives and mothers before their time.
  • Health Risks: Early pregnancies expose them to serious health complications.
  • Emotional Trauma: Many experience fear, isolation, and long-term psychological distress.
